About Us

Ian and Lorraine Ross are farmers and graziers in the Eastern Riverina of NSW. We have cropping, sheep for wool and meat, and backgrounding enterprises. We have set up an on Farm grain storage business which hires the Silo Bag in/out loaders and supplies bags. More infomation can be found on the Silo Bag linked web site. You can view a working demonstration.

We have also set up the backgrounding.com.au web site. This is for numerous enterprises including;

Silo Bag on farm storage and marketing

The hire rates for the loaders which include delivery across the eastern states do change with differing circumstances. But the total cost of on farm storage of $10 to $15 per ton is a good investment in helping market your grain that you control.

The web site allows us to present your grain to all perspective buyers from on your farm. Log on to see how it works. Go to GRAIN/FODDER nav title to get the feel of it. Then see the grain you log on go to the GRAIN AVAILABLE section.

Backgrounding of cattle / feeder lambs

Matching grass with cattle and feeder lambs. This innovative system allows a lot of tyre kicking to occur before we start to lock in a deal. Specifications of cattle / feeder lambs, locations and suitability of grass to cattle type allow industry players to target markets with confidence and get great outcomes for all parties.

There are three levels of pricing.

1; This will depend on the suppliers of cattle. Some suppliers I have been contracted to provide a full service monitoring which includes weighing and dispatching info and cattle. This level of involvment has a cents per kg fee.

2; This level is a basic per head fee of $2 per head landed ( under 500 hd ). for the Cattle Owner and the same for the Grass Grower.

3; This level is not available.

The same applies for FEEDER LAMBS. The rate is adjusted to 30 cents. per head.
